Hello, this is Louie, a gorgeous, very shy, very affectionate Shetland Sheepdog, 7months old. He moved in with Bev a few weeks ago and there's been very little time for sewing ever since. He loves the company of Kevin (my husband) or myself and is quite happy to amuse himself with whatever is to hand when you're around. This is not a good trait in my sewing room, where he has discovered all sorts of exciting things to chew on at his height. I did manage to lock him out a week or so ago so I could get this tablecloth made:
The border fabric - which I love, is from the Kaffe Fasset range and I wanted to make something 'pretty'. It certainly works well with this. The pattern is Coloured Roses from Hugs n Kisses, but instead of using colourque for the centre roses, I used the left over fabric from the border and simply appliqued them using the raw edge technique. A quick project - it's great to actually start and finish something within the same week.
Peggy's been much more adventurous and has put together this wonderful quilt using the pattern Think Inside the Box (we have it in the shop)....With a different themed fabric in each cube it's certainly a treat for the eyes.
Then we have my Mum (also Bev) to thank for making up some of the new Natalie Ross patterns in the shop. The one below is called Strawberry Frenzy.
It includes the instructions to make a Sewing Caddy, Lanyard and Sewing machine Pincushion. I especially like the lanyard with it's strawberry shaped pincusion and scissor holder.
Then who could resist the delightful 'Lucy's Ladybird Adventures'? The cutest shoulder bag and coin purse.
We've sent her home with another Natalie Ross pattern and fabric, so we can look forward to seeing a few more projects made up over the next few weeks. With Christmas coming rapidly on us, I'm already thinking of gifts for special friends.
That's all for today - I'm sneaking to the back of the shop so I can make a new shirt to wear out in Barcaldine this weekend.
For anyone who's forgotten, Peggy & I are off to Barcaldine for a weekend of sewing fun and catching up with Sandy and her ladies from The Silver Thimble. We'll be staying at the Wanprada Centre and there is still room if any of you readers would like to join us. Just give either Sandy or myself a quick email or phone call if you'd like any more information. Sandy did say she'd post more details on her blog later today - http://thesilverthimble.typepad.com/
Cheers, Bev
