With a little time spare, I thought it was time I posted photos from our Retreat.
After an enjoyable (late) night, Friday where many of us decided to get a head start and cut out 10"squares ready for Saturday, here we are in the Sportsmans Bar having breakfast - pancakes with maple syrup, vanilla ice cream & berries. Very nice.
This is the first project to work on, with Peggy's gear all set up neatly in front of it. I can assure you that this is the only time all weekend, her work area looked this tidy & presentable! Now here are some of the workers - notice how busy they all are.
And of course some work samples. Some of the ladies had pre-dyed their fabrics in a previous workshop with Peggy. These and batiks worked particularly well in this style.
Towards the end of Saturday, we had a competition to see who could insert the narrowest string into their block. I can't remember who actually won, but I was astounded that you could still sew such narrow strips into the patchwork block.
(This blog is not playing the game, so I'm sorry, I can't get the text to sit beside the pictures).
On Saturday we were joined for dinner by members from the Clermont Patchwork Group, and for show 'n tell.
They got together and made quilts from the Blackbird Pie pattern.
I have lots more photos to share - there were some stunning pieces produced over the weekend and we all enjoyed ourselves immensely - even Kim who told me on Saturday night that she was feeling traumatised, having to work with such bright colours and Sonya who said she was fighting to bring out her inner artist!
I've got to go, but I must say I'm really looking forward to the next Clermont Retreat.
We'd really like to thank all the ladies who came along, you've certainly inspired us! Out thanks also to the Commercial Hotel in Clermont for our lovely room to work in, their friendly helpful service all weekend and especially the wonderful meals they provided.
Cheers,
Bev & Peggy
