Hi, It's been an especially busy week here &I have a lot to pass on.
Firstly a group of us travelled from Emerald to Barcaldine to attend the Airing of the Quilts on Sunday, organised by Sandy from The Silver Thimble (there's a link to her blog on the side here, so be sure to have a look) with her band of wonderful helpers. We had a marvellous time, the venue was great, the catering delicious and the quilts - well they were amazing. It was such a joy to see so many quilts on display. It certainly inspired me and my other travellers. As I don't know any of the quilt owners to ask permission, I won't include photos on the blog but they were all lovely. I particularly liked all the scrappy quilts on display - I think they were made in a workshop organised by Sandy last year, and there was a stunning Winding Ways quilt that I especially liked - I've come home planning my own version of this one!
So Congratulations and Sincere Thanks to Sandy and the Organisers and Workers for such an enjoyable day. I'll certainly be back for the next one.
I do have a photo to share of the Monument to the Tree of Knowledge from Barcaldine. This photo was taken by Ruth Anderson, standing underneath about 3.oopm. It's an amazing sensation to stand underneath.
While I was off having fun in Barcaldine, Peggy travelled to the historical town of Mount Morgan to do a Bargello Workshop with a very enthusiastic group of ladies - ranging in age from 20 through to 80+. We're very jealous here of all the lovely buildings and especially so of their patchwork rooms. Peggy tells me that they have the most amazing cutting out table - once an enormous snooker table that's now found a more creative use.
They've acutally had to reinforce the building under the table -
But the weekend was all about sewing, so I can share a few photos
I do apologise to anyone whose photo I've missed out, but here is the group - you are very, very inspiring.
Regards,
Bev & Peggy
