Hello to all you happy sewers. I was told by Bev that it was my turn to write something on the Blog. Boy!! I am a one finger typer, so this will take all day plus I can't spell...that old saying ÿou can't be good at every thing"well is is me. I leave the computer work all to Bev.
I did want to tell you about the Tuesday Dear Jane group. They have done wonders over the year and we have some stunning little blocks to show for it. Only Jacqui, Carla & I doing it now - If you read this Anne, let us know if you've had a chance to get any more done. I have completed 106 blocks and the others are just behind me. Actually, I think Jacqui may have even more done. We haven't got to the triangles yet. Next Week! It's supposed to be our last session for the year, but we'll have to get together in 2010 and inspire each other to keep going.
Here's a photo of the gift I received from my Angel. I was quite worried cause the 3 months went by without any parcel in the mail. Bev was getting lovely goodies in the mail and nothing for me (very sad) I was tinking my Angel was too busy and had forgotten when a large parcel turned up in the mail. All my gifts arrived at the same time from Norway. I was over the moon, very excited about what I received. Pin cushion, bag, sewing case, thread, stitchery to do and a lovely home made card. BUT no return address which is a shame because I would like to have sent a Thank You.
The Angel Swap was fun, it's good to make things to send to someone and make new friends. Hope to do it again next year.
I am madly trying to finish things at this time. I've just completed 2 table runners from the Marti Michel 2 1/2"strippers templates, all quilted and ready to go. The Marti Michell rulers and templates are wonderful. You know when I first heard templates, I thought No Way, Been There, Done That, Rotary cutting is the go! Not all those bloody templates and fiddly bits BUT Boy are they good. So easy and accurate. Everything goes together so well. Marti has worked out all the problems for you. All you havbe to do is cut and sew. Wonderful books and booklets, patterns with each ruler or template set that are easy to understand. I have made up 6 projects so far and I have only been working with the 2 1/2"Strippers templates & the large hexagon ruler.
I'm currently putting together a Hexagonal Eye Spy quilt and even using the new fabrics we got in last week - barbwire, skulls, girls on motor bikes. I have 3 nephews turning 21 next year and I'm planning to do a quilt for each one. Poor old Martin was 21 last year and I still haven't made one for him. I find it hard to do quilts just for mem. Bright, loud and over the top I am OK with that, but boys only quilts are hard!
Well I suppose I'd better go. Lots more to finish off - I think I have the Christina UFO bug. Plus it's hard to think when you're tired. I got up at 4:30 yesterday to go to Yoga - which wasn't on because the teacher was sick, so I went swimming instead. Then it was Bev's day off, so I was at the shop all day by myself then home to family & visitors! Luck we had pizza for tea (great for the diet), then sat up with Megan waiting for midnight to go to the movies to see "New Moon". I really enjoyed it and NO I didn't go to sleep. But I am feeling it today and it's not fair because Megan is home sound asleep in bed. Incidentally I wasn't the only mad one up at that hour - the theatre was full. Lots of Twilight fans out there.
Better Go, Happy Sewing and Hope to see you all in the shop one day.
Peggy
